Ikbal Tokat, MD, FAAP
Dr. Ikbal Tokat is a Board Certified Pediatrician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP). Dr. Tokat has received her medical degree from Istanbul University and completed pediatric residency at Beth Israel Medical Center-Long Island College Hospital in New York.
Dr. Tokat has worked in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Long Island College Hospital and was a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at SUNY Downstate Medical Center’s Long Island College Hospital. While at SUNY, Dr. Tokat helped train medical students as well as covered several pediatric practices in New Jersey as a locum tenens provider. Dr. Tokat has also worked with the Pediatric Gastroenterology team treating chronically ill children, conducted extensive research, and co-authored several publications while at Mt. Sinai Medical Center.
With 15 years of diverse medical experience and mother of three young children, Dr. Tokat is a passionate pediatrician who cares deeply that parents and the children learn about the issues of growth, development, behavior, preventive health and management of illness while receiving the treatment they need.
Angelica M. Soto-Pereira, MD FAAP
Dr. Angelica Soto-Pereira is a Board Certified Pediatrician and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP). She obtained her Medical Degree from the University of Rosario in Bogota, Colombia in 2006 and completed her Pediatric Residency at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center affiliated with the Albert Einstein School of Medicine in New York. Prior to joining NuHeights, Dr. Soto worked at Children of Joy Pediatrics in Hackensack, NJ.
Dr. Soto works very hard every day to ensure that she provides the best care for all our patients and families. She believes in empowering parents and patients with the information and confidence they need to lead healthy lives is very important. Dr Soto is particularly interested in childhood obesity, with a focus on prevention and healthy life style changes for both her patients and families, as well as newborn babies, promoting breastfeeding and lactation support.
Outside of the office, Dr. Soto loves to spend time with her husband and two beautiful kids, as well as enjoys weight training, running and nature walks. She is bilingual in both Spanish and English.
Mary K Thomas, MD
Dr. Mary Thomas was born and raised near Detroit, Michigan. She attended Kalamazoo College, graduating cum laude with dual majors in Biology and Spanish Language. While earning her medical doctorate at The Chicago Medical School, she worked at the distinguished Cook County Hospital in both General Pediatrics and The Department of Child Abuse and Neglect. There, working with the underprivileged children of Chicago, she fell in love with Pediatric Medicine.
Following graduation, Dr. Thomas began a pediatric residency at Saint Vincent’s Medical Center in Manhattan. Throughout her residency training and while serving as Chief Resident, she continued to work with indigent and immigrant children and their families. She was an integral member of the renowned St. Vincent’s Cystic Fibrosis center and served on its Charity Board. Her work earned her the John Z. Jacoby Award for exemplary care of patients with CF. Dr. Thomas was an attending physician at The Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center in Manhattan, caring for children with rare genetic disorders and complex chronic diseases before ultimately moving to New Jersey with her growing family.
Dr. Thomas is a Board Certified Pediatrician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and believes that well care and good preventative practices play the biggest role in preventing illness. She also believes in taking into account how psychosocial influences as well as illness play a role in the wellness of a child. Her clinical focuses include pediatric dermatology and rashes, caring for children and families with special needs including LGBTQ youth and children with disabilities. Dr. Thomas also serves as Medical Director of Armada Health, helping patients with challenging diagnoses get to the right specialists to treat their disease.
Dr. Thomas currently resides in Montclair with her husband and three children. In her spare time she enjoys gardening and cheering on the sidelines of her children’s activities.
Mona Sadegh, MD, FAAP
Dr. Mona Sadegh is a Board Certified Pediatrician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP). She completed the accelerated BS/MD program from The College of New Jersey and Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in 2013. She then moved to Boston, and completed her Pediatric Residency at the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center in 2016. Prior to joining NuHeights, Dr. Sadegh worked at Roslindale Pediatric Associates in Boston, MA. She was also an affiliate staff at Boston Children’s Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Dr. Sadegh is passionate about promoting wellness from birth to adolescence, and works hard to provide quality care for her patients and families. She is particularly interested in community outreach and adolescent health. While she was in Boston, Dr. Sadegh was actively engaged with local schools to educate students and families about asthma management, nutrition, and stress management.
Rana C. Matta, MD, FAAP
Dr. Rana Christina Matta obtained her medical degree from the University of Balamand in Beirut, Lebanon in 2013. She then completed her Pediatric Residency at The Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper University Healthcare in Camden, NJ. Dr. Matta is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP).
Dr. Matta is passionate about working with children and forming bonds with them and their parents with the goal of providing the best care possible to them and their families. She loves following children through all the different stages of growth and development as they grow into young adults and thrive. She is especially interested in preventive care, obesity and asthma.
Outside the office, Dr Matta loves spending most of her time with her beautiful son and husband. She and her husband are avid European soccer fans and she also enjoys reading, taking long walks, and exploring new places with her family.
Dr. Matta is bilingual in both English and Arabic.
John Ivan Sutter, MD, FAAP
John Ivan Sutter, MD, has been serving patients as a pediatrician in Clifton, NJ since 1982. For over 30 years, he has been providing quality pediatric care to the community, and continued to do so here at NuHeights Pediatrics. Dr. Sutter is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a past president of Affiliated Pediatric Associates, PA and served as Director of Pediatrics for General Hospital Center at Passaic in Passaic, NJ. He has also served as a Clinical Assistant Professor in Pediatrics at University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey and New York Medical College.
Dr. Sutter earned his medical degree from Far Eastern University in Manila, Philippines and completed his pediatric residency at University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey. He received his Masters of Science in Healthcare Policy and Management from New York Medical College. He has also served in advisory committees for many managed care, physician organizations, and as a consultant for electronic medical record systems.
Dr. Sutter’s practice philosophy is to understand the family and patient in an attempt to provide the most effective care possible, to avoid unnecessary medications and provide optimal health care screening at all aspects of life. His extensive knowledge base and exceptional clinical experience in the pediatrics ensures your child receives the best quality care that NuHeights is known for.
Dee Bobenko, LPN, Billing & Administrator Manager
Dee is a Licensed Practice Nurse with over 18 years of experience in Pediatrics. Prior to joining NuHeights Pediatrics, Dee had worked at St. Barnabas Medical Center’s Pediatrics Department, at Pinnacle Medical Group, and most recently was Office Manager and Nurse at Hackensack Pediatrics for the last 14 years. Dee was selected Nurse of the Year in 2013 in Hackensack. Dee took over the billing department at NuHeights Pediatrics and strives to ensure that all patients understand the relation between their Primary Care & Insurance in a caring, confident way.
Shiri Zofi, LPN, Clinical Coordinator
Shiri Zofi has a passion for healthcare with a focus in Pediatrics. She is a Licensed Practical Nurse dedicated to providing excellent care to each & every child that walks into NuHeights Pediatrics. She believes in a holistic approach to nursing care, incorporating the patients’ family, cultural, learning and psychosocial needs into individualized plans of care. Before graduating from nursing school at Eastwick College, she studied cultural diversity at Tel Aviv University and neuropsychology at Binghamton University. Shiri has Pediatric Experience in chronic illnesses, acute care, rehabilitation, preventative care, patient education, community healthcare, neonatal and lactation education. She is a huge believer in continuing education. She recently completed her coursework in becoming an RN and is currently studying for her boards. As a huge believer in continuing education, Shiri is already focused on her next next degree on the “nursing ladder” with aspirations to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, all while dedicated to continually support the care of your loved ones here at NuHeights Pediatrics.
Medine Cosar, CMA, Community Relations
With over five years of Pediatric experience as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), 2 years with NuHeights Pediatrics and as a mother of two, Medine provides quality care to our patients. Medine’s caring disposition, high skill level and efficiency is evident on every patient she cares for. Not only is Medine a CMA, but she is also a certified EKG technician and a Certified Phlebotomist, so you can rest assured that should your child need lab work, s/he is in the best hands. Medine’s exceptional work ethic and passion for patient care will always ensure that you and your family leave the office satisfied with the thorough care your child will receive and your children excited to return.
Gizem Comakcalar, Medical Assistant
Gizem is a certified Medical Assistant and continuing her education in Health Science. She is aspiring to be a RN in the future. Working at NuHeights Pediatrics has made Gizem feel more connected to kids. She is fluent in Turkish and English so your child will have complete care if your family needs a translator. She will comfort your children in their time of need.
Daisy Rouse, Certified Medical Assistant
Daisy Rouse is a Certified Medical Assistant working as a front desk clinical receptionist here at NuHeights Pediatrics. Daisy brings to us 14 years of experience as a medical secretary from St. Josephs Hospital, working in different departments, including human resources, pain management, mental health, & education. She graduated from Star Career Academy & completed her externship in pediatrics as a CMA. She is a mother of 4 beautiful children & bilingual in both English and Spanish. With a passion for healthcare, she enjoys taking care of her patients. Her goal is to continue her education and someday become a pediatric nurse.
Cristina Molina, Medical Receptionist
Cristina Molina is a Medical Receptionist at NuHeights Pediatrics. She has had a passion for the health care field and experience for over 10 years. Working as a Pharmacist Technician prior awaken an appetite to pursue further in the medical field. She is registered with the New Jersey Office of Attorney General Division of Consumers Affairs for the Board of Pharmacy as well has obtained an AAS degree in Health Service Administration with Insurance Billing and Coding. She is an excellent alumni of Berkeley College currently furthering her knowledge to obtain a Bachelors degree inn Health Service Management. Cristina is a person that is driven to assure that any individual she comes in contact with receives a warm, hospitable and cordial healthcare experience.
Yasemin Yucel, Medical Receptionist
Yasemin Yucel is a Medical Receptionist for NuHeights Pediatrics. Her dedication to patient care stems from a diverse background as well as future ambitions. Yasemin graduated from Rutgers University with a BS in Biology and Exercise Science. She worked as a Physical Therapist Technician for three years in both in-patient & out-patient clinics. Yasemin is currently working towards getting her Doctorates in Physical Therapy with ambitions to specialize in Pediatric Physical Therapy. She is fluent in both English & Turkish. Her dedication providing a welcoming patient experience makes her an excellent addition to the NuHeights Family.
Ivette Rojas, Medical Assistant
Ivette Rojas is a front desk Medical Assistant at NuHeights Pediatrics. Having grown up in a large family, surrounded by kids, working with children has always been a passion of hers. Ivette brings her 3 years of pediatric experience into her role here every day. She is interested in continuing her education, with an eventual goal of becoming an RN. Ivette is fluent in both Spanish & English and looks forward to continuing her progress here at NuHeights Pediatrics.
Cynthia Gines, Medical Assistant
Cynthia Gines has been a Medical Assistant for 2 years, currently working here at NuHeights Pediatrics. She graduated from Garden State Science & Technology in 2015, and completed her externship in Internal Medicine. Cynthia brings a unique skillset, with a background as a Personal Trainer & Nutritionist at the Paterson YMCA teaching Gross Motor Skills for Pre-schoolers & Autistic children for 3 years. She is fluent in English & Spanish, ambitions, outgoing and eager to help all families obtain the best care possible. Cynthia looks forward to further her education in the medical field, and bring those skills to her patients here at NuHeights Pediatrics.
Ormary Rojas, Certified Medical Assistant
Ormary is a CMA who graduated from Lincoln Technical Institute back in 2013, and continued working at her pediatric externship after graduation. She brings 4 years of pediatrics experience with her to NuHeights Pediatrics. Ormary is a mother of 2 beautiful boys, and likes to treat all patients, as she would her own children. Ormary is also fluent in both English & Spanish.
Jamil Jalil, Certified Medical Assistant
Jamil is a bilingual (English & Spanish) Certified Medical Assistant with 4 years experience in Pediatrics. He graduated from Star Career Academy in 2013, and has ambitions to become an RN. While Jamil has experience working both the front & back office, he currently works as a clinical medical assistant here at NuHeights Pediatrics. Prior to working int he medical field, Jamil worked at Toys R Us which he believes, gave him plenty of customer service experience and experience with children to prepare him for the wild world of pediatrics.
Lucero Ramos, Certified Medical Assistant
Lucero Ramos has been a Medical Assistant for 4 years, having graduated from the Technology and Medicine Institute. She completed her externship in Pediatrics and has worked in the field since graduation. She has goals to go back to school to become an RN. Lucero has one beautiful daughter, and she loves & treats patients just as if they were her own.
Theresa Campos, Certified Medical Assistant
Theresa Campos is a CMA who graduated from Star Career Academy in 2015 with High honors. She was hired right after her externship in Pediatrics and has been working in Pediatrics since. Theresa is bilingual in both Spanish and English. She is very caring and compassionate of others with future goals to become an RN-specializing in mothers & baby nursing.
